I made three finger gloves or split mittens.  Posted how I made these on my journal, if you are interested. My husband is demanding a green set, because these are ninja turtle hands.

One of the problems with being a textile artist is that your art tips over into the craft category. I bought a flatbed knitting machine a couple of years ago and finally made a sweater on it. I was so committed to the sweater that I have been avoiding starting anything new. I thought it could be completed over Christmas break and maybe it could have if I didn't run out of yarn. This was one time that an emergency trip to Michaels couldn't be made :-D I decided to take my time to learn and make mistakes anyway.

Could artier sweaters be in my future? I think so! A few more adjustments and it will fit hubs perfectly.

You can follow along on my sweater journey on Twitter!

Ooops, I didn't realize Twitter didn't allow free for all viewing anymore :-D

Every month I go to a crafting class called Dare to Dabble.  This month we were Copper Embossing and [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith suggested I make a post here.

This was my final result:

I added two new books to my craft bookshelf this month, Amazing Circular Weaving and Weaving On A Little Loom.

Buying craft books can be a little iffy, so I'm happy to recommend them. Both have good, clear photos, and instructions not only for the projects, but for those new to weaving. You'll be able to get up and running with successful results in no time.

Although I took a class at art college on weaving with a four harness loom, I couldn't master it at all and it left me feeling like I'd never weave again. Turns out I have a lot of enthusiasm for little looms. TBH, anything can become a loom as long as you have something to hold the warp threads. It could be a tissue box, a piece of cardboard or a scrap of wood :-)

hello hello!! would anyone be interested if i organized a sticker exchange? ₍ᐢ ̥ ̞ ̥ᐢ₎ ♥ basically i'd make a google form so people can sign up, and participants would be put in groups of 2-4 people (according to their preference) to exchange stickers with. they could be any kind of stickers--sheets, waterproof vinyl, lazer cut, puffy, etc--and preferences and amounts would be shared with your partner/group before the exchange.

for example: i'd get assigned a group, and then we'd exchange addresses. we agree that we'll send each other around eight sticker sheets each, and that they should all be flat (not puffy) stickers. each of us will go to stores in our neighbourhood and buy sticker sheets that fit each other's preferences, and then mail them to each other with little thank you cards. if i were in a group of 4, i'd get three of each sheet (one for each of my three group members) and send the same stickers out to everyone.

please comment on this post or send me a message if you're interested, and i'll send you the link for the google form! feel free to share this post with your friends if you think they'd be interested ٩(ˊᗜˋ )و thanks for reading!

I have a million little cousins. Okay, maybe not that many, but there's a lot of them. Since I know they will get plenty of presents from the older generation, I make them crochet things and write out recipes. Dishcloths, a wool trivet, scrubbies.

That sounds a bit odd, because it is, but here we are.
My partner and I bought a trailer tent, a 1994 CombiCamp from Denmark, and it looks pretty sweet. But the original beige-and-maroon color scheme had faded to... well, beige-and-beige. So I found a spray paint that's meant for fabric, and got a LOT of masking tape and other supplies, and now I'm almost done bringing it close to its original cheerful looking state.

The state of the thing, when we first saw it

This is how it should look once I'm done

The paint I'm using is an outdoor one, made by SimplySpray. It's a bit finicky because it really likes to drip and to splutter instead of spraying evenly. I've found that I get decent results if I just spray it reasonably evenly, not aiming for perfect coverage, and then use a brush to cover everything. It does in itself seem to cover well.
You really need to be meticulous about masking, and take gravity into account; if the paint can dribble off and get behind the masking material somewhere, then it will. I mixed a normal artists' acrylic in the shade of the beige parts, and I'm using that to cover up the little oopsies and places where the paint managed to bleed through. It works quite well. I figure that on an almost 30 years old tent, there are some stains no matter what, and anything that can't be detected from two meters away doesn't count.

It's a fun project, I'm almost done and with any luck, we can get a few nights of camping in before the weather gets too bad. In any case we'll be ready for next summer!

Hi group, I have been mostly working on cleaning up my house after my final semester at art college, so I haven't been doing too much in the way of new stuff. But, I can't resist new craft things and bought a Zoom Loom by Schact Spindle. It is made in the USA and is a pin loom. Pin looms let you make tiny projects and they are just kind of fun. So far I have made a few samples with different yarns.

I'm trying to clean up all the horizontal surfaces now that school is over and one thing that was easy to finish up was this lap blanket made from an entire ball of James C. Brett chunky yarn. I bought it online and thought the colour was interesting...not so much in real life. So it's been washed and dried and will go towards a group that makes hats and blankets for low-income and needy folks.

I can't remember how I did this--I want to say I knit seven rows, skipped a row and repeated...but I honestly can't remember!

It doesn't hurt to have a Plan B these days, wherever you store your data :-)

I'm in my final semester of art college, so document these few months is really important to me.

Hi friends, it's been a while! I finished up another semester at art college with one left go (finally!). I'm using the break inbetween to finish up those pesky UFOs. Did you finish any this year? Plan on finishing in 2022? Do show and tell!

I have a long walking skirt that I want to wear when it starts really getting cold here, but the hem is sewn with a plastic thread that pokes out and sticks me in the ankles when I walk. So I found some herring tape and decided to cover it!

First I was too lazy to get my sewing machine set up (I just moved) so I decided to hand stitch. Then I didn't want to go digging around for a thimble (also a mistake). The one time I pick up a hand project and finish it in one setting, I do zero of the things I need to.

Two hours later I have a perfectly comfortable walking skirt, a few sore fingers, and an aching back But still! It feels good to get one more project off my mind :)

I haven't posted here in ages, so here are this year's holiday cards. Rather quick and easy because it's that sort of year, but still pretty festive. Kraft paper cards, silver spray paint, a dollar store stencil. A custom made stamp on a strip of chalk paper.
I'm happy with them.

I actually went to a scrapbook carnival yesterday and it was pretty fun! Naturally I spent too much, but it was fun to just shop and I also spent time with some friends too. I kinda wish I saw this video before I went though.

Hi peeps, here's a chance to put this on your calendar. World Cardmaking Day is always the first Saturday in October and was started in 2006 by Paper Craft magazine. I don't think they're around anymore, but you can find one of their big compendiums of cards on Amazon or at the library.

I love crafty gadgets a lot and this one looks like it could save a lot of time! While Sally Stanley (who was a real person) pleaters are no longer made and are vintage, a company, Read Pleaters makes brand new ones.

Rug making seems to be all the rage these days for fine art as well as craft. I wish there was someone that I could test one out with because it's as intimidating as it is cool!

I plan on making this soon for a homework project!
