some of the items she mentions makes me go 'why would you even need that if you're doing *this* instead?'

Especially those 'blending trays' for inkpads. I mean, who doesn't hold the ink pad when they load up the stamper? That's common sense.

Layered stencils have been around *forever*, they're nothing new and you can do nearly the same thing with regular stencils. The die cut thing is neat, but again, not needed if you have a steady hand and an Xacto knife. Also, stencil blanks are a thing, way cheaper and you can make your own, unique stencils.

Swatching is a good thing and again, has been around forever- fabrics, floss, yarn, paint, markers etc, all have them or users make them. They're easy to do and you don't *need* specialized tools to do it either. Just sheets of white cardstock, a pencil or pen, hole punch and a binder to keep them in. They're a great reference for getting or jump starting ideas for new projects.

Unfortunately, there will always be those who absolutely *have* to have the newest 'tool' for whatever art or craft they're doing. Just as there will always be those of us who adapt other things for whatever it is we need, regardless of whether it was the item's original intended use.

Moral of her video- sometimes, less is better.
